Public Communications Inc. Names New VP of Media Relations
CHICAGO (October 23, 2006) - Public Communications Inc. has named Pam Rwankole its vice president of media relations.
Rwankole, 32, recently re-joined PCI to head the agency’s media division after a two-year stint with the Alzheimer's Association, managing national media outreach for a variety of initiatives. Rwankole first worked with PCI from 1999-2004, rising through the ranks to become manager of the 20-person staff of media specialists.
At PCI and the Alzheimer's Association, Rwankole excelled at media relations, forming first-name-basis relationships with media, including a broad range of national print and broadcast media. Before leaving the Alzheimer's Association, Rwankole orchestrated an upcoming cover story with U.S. News & World Report, secured four CNN segments and convinced PBS "Newshour with Jim Lehrer" to air a two-part series on the disease.
“It is her stellar ability to develop relationships with key national media and make her clients memorable that led us to recruit her back to PCI when the position opened to head our media relations function,” said Dorothy Oliver Pirovano, APR, president and CEO of PCI.
Rwankole sees her role as an opportunity to increase visibility of PCI’s clients and mentoring young PR talent at the agency.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the success of Public Communications Inc. as it moves forward," said Rwankole. "PCI is a tremendous company with an amazing group of talented PR professionals and a diverse national and Chicago clientele.”
Rwankole is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario (London, Canada), where she earned a combined honors degree in Political Science and History.
