Dorothy Oliver Pirovano, APR, CEO of Public Communications Inc. (PCI), is the chair-elect of the Americas Region of the Worldcom Public Relations Group, the world’s largest partnership of independently owned public relations counseling firms. PCI is one of the founding firms of the 22-year-old partnership, which has 107 offices in 95 cities worldwide. Pirovano was voted into office Friday at the Americas Region meeting in Cleveland. She will take office as chair in September 2011 when Worldcom firms from the United States, Canada and South America convene in Hawaii. Virginia Sheridan, president of M. Silver Associates, New York, is the newly elected chair of Worldcom. “A significant benefit of serving on the board is getting to know more about our partner firms and how they can add strength and depth to client programs,” Pirovano said. “The camaraderie and desire to support each other are what we call ‘the spirit of Worldcom,’ and PCI’s clients regularly benefit from this. It is an honor to be asked to serve as chair-elect.” Pirovano is a respected PR counselor who specializes in strategic planning, executive coaching, issues management, media and presentation training, launches and lifecycle communications. She has been with PCI for 29 years, joining the firm after nearly a decade as a columnist, writer and editor for The Daily Herald newspaper chain in suburban Chicago. In addition to serving on Worldcom’s board, Pirovano leads the Health Care Practice Group, which comprises more than 30 firms from around the world who have a concentration of clients in the health care field.
