PCI CEO Elected To Worldcom Group Americas Region Board

October 16, 2009

Dorothy Oliver Pirovano, president and CEO of Public Communications Inc. (PCI), Chicago, was elected today to serve as member retention chair for the Worldcom Public Relations Group Americas Region Board of Directors. PCI is a founding partner of Worldcom, the world's leading network of independently owned public relations counseling firms.

Pirovano was appointed to the membership retention post in February 2008 and was elected at the region board meeting in San Juan. The Americas Region comprises more than 55 firms in North and South America. Pirovano also chairs the Worldcom Health Care Practice Group, which has more than 30 participating member firms from around the world.

“Despite the economy, Worldcom has attracted new member firms worldwide this year and there are more being vetted for entry into the group this spring,” said Pirovano. “We released results of a group survey at this meeting and were able to report exceptional satisfaction among partner firms, with members reporting that they remain in Worldcom because of its exceptional camaraderie and the ability of CEOs to meet and exchange information with one another. Dozens of our PCI clients have benefitted from our Worldcom connections in the region and throughout the world.”

Established in 1988, Worldcom was formed so that the strongest, most capable independent public relations firms could serve national, international and multi-national clients while retaining the flexibility and client-service focus inherent in independent agencies. Worldcom has 105 offices in 91 cities in 40 countries on five continents, more than 2,000 employees and revenue in 2008 of more than US $243.5 million. (See www.worldcomgroup.com)

Through Worldcom, clients have on-demand access to in-depth communications expertise from professionals who understand the language, culture and customs of the geographic areas in which they operate.

PCI is celebrating its 47th anniversary this year. A national firm with more than 45 professionals, PCI has as many clients out-of-state as in, and has a concentration of business in health care, conservation/environment, education, culture/entertainment/sports and “everything Chicago.” It is a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Counsel. PCI’s offices are at 35 E. Wacker Dr. in downtown Chicago. For more information, visit www.pcipr.com.
