PCI Wins 26 Top PR Awards

Public Communications, Inc. (PCI) received 26 top PR awards from four leading industry organizations, including the Publicity Club of Chicago (PCC), the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) - Chicago Chapter, and national recognition from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and PRSA National.

The categories in which programs were recognized include media relations, digital strategy, social media, websites, nonprofit advocacy, integrated marketing communications, crisis communications, issues management, video and community relations. Beyond lauding the agency’s wide-ranging accomplishments, a consistent theme for PCI’s award-winning programs is our continued alignment with worthwhile causes making a positive impact on communities – for which we have a long, proud and successful history.

PCI secured 11 awards at PCC’s Golden Trumpet Awards, including 8 Golden Trumpets, 2 Silver Trumpets and one of PCC’s five prestigious “Best of the Best” awards: the Edwin J. Shaughnessy Quality of Life Award, “recognizing the foremost contribution to improving quality of life in our society through public relations.” This specialty award was given to a campaign on behalf of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago to safeguard rights for the transgender community and secure $500,000 of emergency funding for pediatric HIV/AIDS programs.

PCI brought home another 12 awards at PRSA-Chicago’s Skyline Awards, including 10 Skylines, one Award of Excellence and the coveted “Best of Skylines” award – the very top award of the night – for our work with Women Employed to bring sick time protections to Chicago workers.

In addition to these regional honors, PCI’s work with the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) received national recognition for a campaign that urged the public, policymakers and veterans to protect physician-led, team-based anesthesia care in the Veterans Health Administration. The ASA program earned an Award of Excellence at the Public Relations Society of America’s 2017 Silver Anvil Awards, adding to previous honors from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE): a Gold Circle Award along with the top award for Overall Excellence.

PCI’s other award-winning campaigns include: a fight for LGBTQ inclusion in The United Methodist Church, a microsite featuring an effort to provide homes for displaced African elephants, promotion of school breakfast programs, publicity for a museum exhibit that teaches kids about architecture, an animated video engaging the public about diabetes education and public awareness programs to ensure local parks remain healthy and thriving.
